I load them for 30-06, .308 and 7.5x55 Swiss and I get superb accuracy with them out to 300yds. I haven't tried them farther out than that. At 100 yds I one hole 5 shot groups. I don't think anyone would use them in competitions but I'm just curious what everyone's opinions are on them. They're definitley great for varmint out of a light barreled rifle.

Schmitty what is your sabot load in your Swiss? --KJ

I use 46grs of AC2230 with 55gr fmj's, that's about a 80% load but it's enough. You can also use 44grs of IMR4198, that's a 85% load that will chrony at 4000fps. Anything above 85% using the 4198 would be an unsafe chamber pressure.

I tried them in my tactical rifle and did not like them. I decided to use 110 gr bullets instead for varmints and they worked just fine.

I varmint hunt alot, always have. I love it. I load my 308 using 175 gr Berger VLD's, they have the same POI as my SMK's but the open up so much better on impact then the SMK's.

Last year my buddy shot a groundhog at 465 yds with a 175 SMK and punched a hole clean through him. He ended up having to shot the hog three times to kill him. I told him about the Bergers and thats all he shoots now.

The great thing about them is you can practice with the 175 VLD and varmint hunt at the same time. I shot one last year with the Berger alittle over 900 yds and it knocked a hole through it as big as your fist. They do a great job.
