Here are some pics of the ghillie I made when I got to STA 3/6 in 1998. I used shoe goe to attach everything. Hit it with some bowflage afterwards. I layed a bead of shoe goo, layed down the GI cot I requisitioned winky.gif then I layed a bead of shoe goo over top of it. Never lost a seam. I did pop a few spots on the netting going under some branches but was quick and easy to repair. I added a pocket on the inside of the blouse, a pocket to my forearm and some bullet loops, isomat was added to the elbows and knees. You can see that I attached the burlap every other square like bricks are layed. The burlap is not long. Maybe 8 inches or less. With the spacing, I have plenty of room to stuff veg in.

Hey blaster,
Great looking useful suit you've got there. You've inspired me. Where'd you stop with the netting on the arms? About short sleeve length?

i'm right-handed. so i have the netting and garnish go down almost to my elbow on the left arm and nothing on the right arm. it's more important to have a good position with your stock than to cover that spot. besides your veil should cover it.

Speaking of veils, I'm using a boonie hat and assume the veil would be attached to that right? I don't want it snaging on things so how to I make it long enough to cover the scope but not get in the way when crawling? Do I just leave it long on the back of the hat and then turn it around for the firing position?

You've been most helpful in keeping me from making mistakes so far :-)

i used a boonie as a base one time. it was a good veil and i gave it to one of the younger marines in my platoon when i left. i've since made another out of an 8 point cover(the baseball looking hat) i just spiraled some 550 cord around the cover, tacking it down with shoe-goo every 1 1/2 inches or so. that way you have room for veg to cram in there. i think the veil is reall the most important piece of the whole system. you could get by most times just by using that alone. i never covered the rifle or scope with my veil. i would stalk with the brim facing backwards (or cut off the front of the boonie). reason being is that the shadow cast by the brim will get you busted. remember it's anything that attracts attention. then if i thought i could get away with it i would turn it around and maybe cover up half of the scope with the brim. picking the best position is the key.
