Hello Gentlemen!

I was hoping you can give me a hand determining what kind of bases and rings would be the best to settle a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40 Riflescope (as you know that's quite a long thing):
http://bushnell.com/productinfo/riflescopecs/426242m.html
to be able to go as low as possible (in terms of the height of the scope above the barrel) and as long as possible (in terms of the mounting length).

Of course! Forgot to mention. The gun is Remington 700 VS in .308 Win. The gun is going to be primarily for paper punching, so no need for quick release or things like that.

My preliminary choice is:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Item # - Item Name --------------------- Item Description -
-------------------------------------------------------------------
51734 - Leupold Std 1 Pc Long Rear Base - Matte Rem 700 RH-SA
49910 - Leupold Extension Rings Std 1" - Matte Low
-------------------------------------------------------------------

One piece base considered as a better lining up condition for rings. Extension rings are considered to enlarge the mounting length and allow better scope / eye / glasses / whatever adjustments

Could you please prove me right or wrong?

Thank you hundred times in advance!

When I first did my LTR I mounted that very scope using a Loop Mk4 one piece base, and the rings.......Worked excellent...shortly thereafter I removed that scope and put it on a DPMS AR, and some guy named sn1per did a deal with me for a 12x Loopy scope which was on the LTR when I sold it.....

oldflint,

The "problem" with the Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x4 scope is it has only 26MOA of adjustment. If you intend to shoot your .308 at any distance, I strongly suggest you get a base with a 20MOA slant built into it like Badger's. Just MHO.
