Hey Guys,
Well, my department finally approved us for carrying an
almost a 1911(can't have that nasty and unsafe single action trigger

), in this case, any of the ParaOrd LDA pistols. They also finally approved the .45 ACP caliber, too. So, it looks like my beloved .40 Caliber Glock 35, is gonna be relegated to back up duty, in place of my newest addition, a ParaOrdnance P14 Limited LDA, in good ole .45 ACP! Here she is. Ain't she a hottie

...
Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentShe came with the factory hard shipping case, and five magazines. I picked up a nice Kramer Horsehide IWB holster, and figure I'll keep her loaded with something nice like some 230 grn Gold Dots. As soon as I can recover financially, I'm gonna send her south and beg Shep for some of that good old fashioned Southern magic he works. Until then, I think I'll be able to suffer through

Respectfully,
Harry

We should refit all police and military with 1911's in .45, screw NATO and their 9mm.

Apr 15 2008, 16:54
The 9mm is a fine round, it's all about shot placement. Train to win, or sit down.
Anyways, Harry your a bigger man than I am. I have Terry Tussey P14 and I wouldn't dream of trying to conceal it. I still need to send it to Shep for that stuff we talked about a few months back. Let us know how she shoots, your going to like not having to reload every 7 or 8 rounds. The other day Hunter and I took our .45's out for some plinking and I think he got a little mag jealous. Until I had a slight problem with my ammo.
Why don't you "lend" me one of those mags?
Hey, I forgot to add that your a lucky mo fo -- that is another nice canon! I haven't bought a new pistol in a year! Lucky.

Hey Joe,
Nah, I'm a little pudgy guy guy at five eight and a hundred eighty pounds. I just have this whole twisted thought process that says if I need a weapon, then I need it really really bad. Since pistols suck at terminal ballistics, multiple shots are likely a requirement. Bad guys, like bananas, travel in bunches, so the more rounds I have in the system, the better. The extra weight should help my splits, too and like Shep said, when I run outta bullets, I'll have an expensive poorly designed club for smacking bad guys.

I gotta say, I carried a full sized Glock for a number of years, and really liked the feel, but this thing just seems like it was made for my hand. I'm really digging it...The increased weight really isn't as bad as you'd think, since my Glock has been carried with a tactical light attached for the last six months or so...
Respectfully,
Harry
PS
Well, since I'm only lending the mag...

Nice pistol buddy.
A late 'second that remark', nice piece.
I too have been carring one on duty for over a year now when I go out to play at night. It is second choice but policy is policy. Get about a five hundred rounds through it and it is like an old hat.
Sure do hate to leave my Wilson or SW 1911 at home though.
I am, 'we're', carrying Hornaday TAP so I have it stoked with 200 gr +P but your round is a good choice also as is Federal.

Esmeralda makes some awesome grips. I bought a set of the most gorgeous double diamond Officer's grips in Cocobolo for my buddy for a Christmas present to go on his SAI Compact. If any of y'all are looking for some fancy shmancy grips for your 1911, for a great price to boot, contact Esmeralda
http://www.esmeralda.cc/One of the really cool things about buying from Esmeralda is that the pictures on the website are the exact grips you are buying, not just a "representative" set.

Nice CBOB!
I use that same rear sight on my 1911's, the Yost-Bonitz Professional. I hate the Novak sights cuz I can't run a one-handed cocking drill with them.
cmshoot
Jun 21 2008, 18:56
I run a modified Springfield Armory TRP in Black Armory Kote, that I did the following work on:
Switched the rear sight for a Yost-Bonitz Professional model. Plain black serrated.
Wilson Oversized Magazine Release that I cut down to a more usable size
TechWell USA aluminum grips and Carry model mag funnel, hand fitted the mag well of the pistol to match the funnel
Action tuned and trigger set to 2.25lbs. Had to have the sear, disconnect, and trigger replaced. The sear and disconnect are Cylinder & Slide and the trigger is an STI carbon fiber model.
Tuned the factory extractor, it didn't have enough tension as it came from the factory.
Replaced the recoil spring with a 15lb ISMI, and the mainspring with a 19lb ISMI. I also use CPB Bullets Shock Buffers.
Folks that say a 1911 isn't reliable, or that you can't run 'em a lot without cleaning them are either full of it, or have only seen/used improperly or "overly" tuned 1911's. I only have about 5,000rds out of this one so far, but it's been flawless. Too boot, it's scary accurate. I killed a moving ground hog with it at about 50yds: a single 185grn FMJ just behind the head.
The Armory Kote is actually KG Coatings Gun Kote. I can't even begin to count the number of presentations I have from the holster on this pistol so far, and it has only recently started to get some "character marks" on some of the corners and edges, and all of my work has been out of a Blade Tech Gunsite model Kydex holster. On top of that, I've used it in many of the classes that I teach and have run a few hundred one-handed cocking drills off the rear sight with no wear/marks on the slide to show for it.
Along with the abovementioned holster, I use 5 single mag pouches from Comp-Tac, all on a CR Speed Hi Torque belt.
