Well, I went to my local gun shop and what did I see? This Colt 1911 .45. I haven't had one in sooooo long so I bought it.

I want to have the front strap checkered (25 lpi), replace the mainspring housing with a checkered one,and put on Tritium night sights. Any suggestions who I should sent it to, for relative quick turn around and quality work?

Got rid of a lot of "stuff" I was never gonna shoot (you guy's who wanted my 45-70 derringer..sorry) walked out with this Wilson. Pretty solid pistol.

Here's my newly acquired Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical, complete with a dirty muzzle and nasty skin fragments from yesterday's training event. The only extras I put on her is a Wilson Combat extended slide stop since the one from the factory was being picky about magazines, and a simple set of egro grips instead of the standard smooth wood panels. Approx. 275 rounds without a malfunction, nuff' said.

Wow, Mikey! Sweet RIA, I love mine. I bet it's accurate. I got another A-1 model new in a trade a few months ago. I'm customizing it now. Hey Dshai, Glad things worked out with the mags. It's unreal how many folks tell me about 1911 feeding issues and how fast they go away with the correct mag.

A good friend of mine in NC gave me a new 1911 Kimber Tactical Ultra II Click to view attachment it's an older one with the external extractor. It's in beautiful shape and runs like a dream. I fed it Gold Dot, Golden Saber, Winchester Ranger and Hornady XTP personal defense ammo and it eat it like Oprah at a KFC picnic. I ran 220 rounds of everything without any issues except Federal Hyroshock which I hate anyway.

Take care, flea

Here's the one that hangs around my neck the most. Colt Commander, Bar-Sto barrel, NM bushing, MC trigger, C&S Hammer-sear-disconnector, Trijicon sights, Wilson mags, Ed Brown thumb safety-extractor-ejector, Gunsite grips, Wolff springs, the rest is 100% Colt.

After many months of reading I finally pulled the trigger and bought my first 1911. I picked up a Colt O1980XSE off gunbroker. I had looked at many other more expensive models such as the springfield trp and some kimbers but ultimately ended up on this one. I heard good things on reliabilty and I liked how the xse pistols felt and for $880 it seemed like a bargain. I put some miltac g10 grips on her yesterday (thats when I picked up from ffl) and will take it out on saturday. Trigger pull is crisp and it has a nice tight slide to frame fit. Maybe I'll send her back for some upgrades later on but for now I think I'll leave it as is and see how it does.

I've had a fullsize Wilson Protector for about 9 years and finally broke down and picked up a new Bill Wilson Carry. What do y'all think? Vern is going to like this one for sure. Us old(er) guys like our 1911's.
It will become my daily carry after I run a few hundred rounds through her. Btw... I use a Galco JAK holster with most of my pistols. If you aren't familiar, check it out. Good stuff.

I've wanted this gun for a long time and now is the time!

Photo is a Wilson File photo. My gun was built last month and has the new Wilson logo on the grips and slide.
