Here's my 4" Springfield Champion. It was stock and I installed the Wilson Combat beaver tail, trigger and trigger job, hammer and I painted it.
One thing I'll share with y'all. When I painted it I used Brownells Alumahide II but in stead of letting air dry and cure. I decided to bake it. I pre heated the oven to 300 degrees and put it in for 30 minutes. It turned out great and harder than woodpecker lips.
The slide I used Gun Coat and over cured it.

Vern, exactly how hard are woodpecker lips?
Carlos my friend, they are tough!

Here's a p*** pic of my STI/Fusion 6" longslide 10mm I built.
Fusion fitted the slide , frame, and barrel, I did the rest.
I am waiting for a Schueman gaintwist barrel to make it a real tack driver.
Very nice! I really like those long slides

Hunter has one in my safe-- it's great pistol. Just as good as any of my SA Loaded pistols. That's the god's honest truth.
I've had two of the Taurus PT 1911's and both ran fine. The last one I had painted desert tan and Nate ended up with it. I'm pretty sure he loves it.

Hey Cixelsyd,
You lucky dog! That's a great pistol, I hope you have great luck with it. Have you shot it yet?

HUMMM ... I'll have to invest !

Thanks Flea. Haven't shot it yet. I picked it up when I was home on vacation a couple of weeks ago. Spent a lot of time with family and friends and didn't get to the range before my vacation was up. Time just disappeared on me!!
CHRIS
Please let us know how it shoots! Very interested in how accurate it is.

Shep's finishing one up we're putting together for my dad. I'm going to duracoat it and then I'll post pics.
Hey Vince,
You can bet it will be top notch. I took out the old "Green eyed monster" yesterday and shot it. You could be the worst shooter in the world and that pistol would make you look like a super star. Unreal!!!!!!!!!!
Take care, Vern
On that note: God Bless Shep! The little 4" SA Champion I built was finally talked out of my hands. A friend offered me $1,100 for it and Shep had found me a SA TRP Stainless Steel like brand new. So I basically traded one of the other and still made $100, thanks to Shep!
I can't wait to get my hands on it. I've been like a little kid. From what Shep told me about the TRP. It's the only SA that has a forged frame made in the US and pretty much hand fitted. He's going over it right now and says it's pretty dang nice.
Here's a picture of my 4" Champion I built and the new TRP Shep found for me.

It was my pleasure, Vern.
This one is pretty danged nice. Locks up tighter n' a vault and I set the trigger at a crisp 3.5lbs. Got rid of the ILS system and replaced with standard parts, installed a 19lb mainspring, and polished up a few parts here and there.
On a side note, the TRP isn't the ONLY SAI with an American frame on it, several of their "high end" models have them, like the TRP, Trophy Match and such.
That's a sweet looking pistol. Nothing lifts the spirit like a new 1911. Can't wait to see it in Tenn. I don't care what all these guys say about him..I agree Shep's not a bad guy
Well, Sam like you and so many other folks here at SP, Shep has been truly a great friend to me.

Hey Vern, what happened to that RIA you had Shep jack up for you?
Hey Tommy,
That's the "Green Eyed Monster", that lives in the safe. I ran 100 round through it Sat. it still ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take care my friend, Vern

Wilson .45 Protector. The gun is all stainless, but I had Wilson do an armor tuff job in black slide over gray frame last winter. I added the starburst grips which are awesome (2nd photo from Wilson to show grips). It is a carry gun and IDPA competitor in CDP Division. Best pistol I own. It is definitely not a safe queen. It is used regularily (at least once or twice a week). As a side note.... after Wilson armor tuffed it, the grip safety wasn't quite sensitive enough for my liking. Vern took it apart and applied his magic. It's perfect now. It's one darn nice 1911.
Yes, Charlie I have to admit this is one sweet pistol. I never thought to much about really high end 1911's. I always felt they were over priced but after pulling the Wilson down I have to say it's very nice.
New to the 'family', High Standard 1911:
Nice pistol brother. Do yourself a favor and get one Wilson 47-D, a Wilson ETM and a Chip McCormick mag. It will like one of those three. Once you find the one then buy a couple handfuls.

Vern,
I have my LW Champ. Operator coming on Tuesday from Shep and I need to order some mags. I was going to order some wilson do you think I should try McCormick?

My SAI TRP runs flawlessly with the Chip McCormick 8rd Power Mags. Give 'em a shot, if they work for you they are quite a bit less expensive than a lot of the others. Make sure they are Power Mags, not the Shooting Stars.
Yep, what Shep said! I couldn't get my Champion to run hollow point bullets until I switched to Chip McCormick Power mags. Probably 75% of feeding issues with 1911 are mags. So take the time to get a few and try them.
Best of luck, Vern
