OUCH !!! double charge for colt ?
Shepherd
Years ago I would be helping my dad reload for a match. Before he would seat bullets he would use a flash light and look over all the cases. Then he would hand the light to me so I could do the same. He would ask does the powder all look the same? I was just a boy at the time and never really understood why he did this. When I started reloading a couple of years ago dad's practice explained itself. He was looking for the possibility of double charges. Obviously a threat in any firearm!

I don't know if I'd call what happened "priceless", more along the lines of "lucky".

Many revolver shooters used Bullseye powder in .38 Special wadcutter loads. The charge was light, and you could double-charge a case without filling it up. I've seen 3 S&W revolvers blown up like this with double-charges of Bullseye powder.

In my youth, I accidently double charged a .44 magnum round I ran through a Ruger Redhawk. Thank the good lord that William Ruger over engineered everything. The primer blew back into the firing pin hole and locked everything up, but otherwise, the pistol and shooter was ok.

Hey Guys,
Look at the bright side. It's a little lighter to carry now, and has a flatter profile...

What was that guy using titegroup in a .44 magnum for anyway? I use tite group for .45 ACP, and even then you could double charge if you made a mistake. 2400 or WW296 would precventthe possibility of a double charge in .44Mag.
