  • Seeking A SAVAGE Short Action (may incl bbl, stock)

    Hello All,

I want to do a .260 Rem repeater build on a short SAVAGE action.
I plan to take my L/D training with this rifle once it's ready. I am
    a reloader. Ultimately I plan to have a MANNERS T-2A or T-6A
stock; I've not decided yet, and I expect a NIGHTFORCE 5.5x22
scope. I am open to comments on the Savage accutrigger, and the
factory barrel versus the aftermarket competition. Thank you.

A match barrel by a reputable maker (Krieger, Broughton, Brux, Schneider, Lothar Walther, etc) is always gonna be better than a factory barrel from Remington or Savage.

It's knowing that when I get up in the morning and my feet hit the floor, the Devil says, "Shit! He's awake!"

Shortly before World War I, the German Kaiser was the guest of the Swiss government to observe military maneuvers. The Kaiser asked a Swiss militiaman: "You are 500,000 and you shoot well, but if we attack with 1,000,000 men what will you do?" The soldier replied: "We will shoot twice and go home."

I wasn't making a list of barrels that I was recommending, just a sample list.

I've seen that list........I don't think it means that one is better than another.

I was just adding one more name to the fine list you made... is all I was trying to do. I only posted the link to possibly aid in a decision about a barrel when you see 61% of top 50 shooters are using them...that may say a lot...it may not.

Bartlein makes as fine a barrel as anyone does. I had a .300WM with a Bartlein barrel and she was a tack driver.

Janice has Lothar Walther on her .260 and it shoots like a house afire. Cleans up well to boot. My new .308 and .260 barrel for my rig are LW's as well. Love them.
