  • Conversion formulae, target speeds and leads

    1. Speeds
    a. 2mph slow walk
    b. 3mph normal walk
    c. 4mph fast walk
    d. 6mph jog
    e. 10mph run
    f. 15mph fast run/spring
    g. 20mph fast sprint

    2. Target Lead
Time of flight (seconds) x Target speed (fps) = Lead (feet)
Time of flight (seconds) x Target speed (fps) x 12 = Lead (inches)

    3. Factor Wind into Target Lead
Target moving into the wind: Target Lead + Wind Hold off = Total Lead
Target moving with the wind: Target Lead – Wind Hold off = Total Lead
To convert lead in hold offs using mils: Lead in inches / (Range in yards/100) / 3.6 = mil lead

    4. Convert MOA’s to mils: MOA x 0.296 = mils

    5. Convert mils to MOA’s: mils/0.296 = MOA

    6. Convert MPH to fps: MPH x 1.4667 = fps

    7. Convert inches to mils: inches / (Range in yards/100) / 3.6 = mils

    8. Convert inches to MOA: inches / (Range in yards/100) = MOA

    9. Convert MOA to inches: MOA x (Range in yards/100) = inches

    10. Convert mils to inches: mils x (Range in yards/100) x 3.6 = inches

It's knowing that when I get up in the morning and my feet hit the floor, the Devil says, "Shit! He's awake!"

Shortly before World War I, the German Kaiser was the guest of the Swiss government to observe military maneuvers. The Kaiser asked a Swiss militiaman: "You are 500,000 and you shoot well, but if we attack with 1,000,000 men what will you do?" The soldier replied: "We will shoot twice and go home."

"There are so many Russians, and our country so small, where will we find room to bury them all?" - anonymous Finnish soldier

I checked your math and fell out of my chair! You got it right - guess a blind squirrel does find a nut every now and then. BC would be proud.
