When I originally bought the Rossi, it was cuz that was all I could afford at the time. Action was a bit rough, but I slicked her up myself and she smoothed out tremendously.

When I got her to the range I was surprised at how accurate she was. I sighted her in at 30 yards. When I got done, it took me 5 rounds to shoot the 4 staples out of the target.......very accurate.......

I've thought about replacing her over the years with something fancier, but she has never malfunctioned on me, not once (not counting bad ammo). I see Marlin 1894's malfunction all the time at the CAS matches.

If I get back into shooting CAS regularly, I would like to buy an 1873 Short Rifle. Always liked the looks and that toggle-link action, while much weaker than the 1892 (still stronger than you need for standard pistol calibers) they are super smooth.

It's knowing that when I get up in the morning and my feet hit the floor, the Devil says, "Shit! He's awake!"

Shortly before World War I, the German Kaiser was the guest of the Swiss government to observe military maneuvers. The Kaiser asked a Swiss militiaman: "You are 500,000 and you shoot well, but if we attack with 1,000,000 men what will you do?" The soldier replied: "We will shoot twice and go home."

      Thanks for the review.
Everyone is saying, "buy a used Marlin." So a look on Gunbroker reveals $1100 +. I'm just looking for a toy.

I liked the Marlin Micro Bore so much, I bought two in 35 remington, and the third in 30-06.....the 35 is a damned tack driver from the git-go.

You can't use .30-30 or .35 Remington in CAS....pistol caliber only.
