  • My 1911 back from the manufacturer

I was shooting a tactical rifle match and on my second shot the slide was locked partially open with a spent round (checked to make sure) in the chamber. Wouldn't pull back, wouldn't go forwards. Figured it was a chunk of steel so tried hammering, no luck, put a dowel in the barrel and hammer, no luck. I sent it back to Taurus (I know it's not an expensive pistol but has been 100% until this) and just got it back. The paperwork says the barrel was damaged and replaced. Has anyone else experienced this? I am assuming something happened to the barrel link, but nothing else was specified. They did repair it free under a lifetime warranty, so that was a plus.

Sounds like a broken barrel link or barrel lug. Hard to say without actually seeing it. I've seen a broken barrel lug lock a .45 up like that before.

Shortly before World War I, the German Kaiser was the guest of the Swiss government to observe military maneuvers. The Kaiser asked a Swiss militiaman: "You are 500,000 and you shoot well, but if we attack with 1,000,000 men what will you do?" The soldier replied: "We will shoot twice and go home."
