    Good news, glad to see you back.

    I was a bit concerned the last few days. I don't think most realize Japan's brutality in Asia for centuries. Most Americans don't know our history very well, let alone the rest of the worlds. And the rest of the world knows that too. LOL, that saved my butt in Belgium once. A bunch of card carrying communist party members were so surprised at my knowledge of their countries involvement in the Congo, and of King Leopold, they forgot they were pissed off at GWB for Iraq and looking to pick a fight.

    I had no idea we trained with the Chinese. That seems counter productive. While I think our interests in that part of the world may align, I do not think the Chinese are not a major area of "concern" on the ole threat list.

    Be safe buddy, give my regards to Soo-jin and the gang.

      Hi Vince;

      They also do not know that Truman LEFT the ARMED Japanese troops in Korea to be the constabulary after the end of the war. They were brutal and continued to subjugate the Koreans after Japan surrendered. These were the same troops who occupied the nation since 1905 and just as brutal.l.

          UPDATE 5 SEPTEMBER 2015, 0120 KST,SATURDAY:

          It's 73F. and cloudy in Seoul tonight, a pleasant evening. We have the weekend off and are at our "hideout", the InterContinental COEX. Soo-jin is, and has been getting ready for a late night club run with Richard and Yun-hee. Earlier we had dinner at the club in Yongsan followed by some drinks and dancing in Gangnam close to our "Hideout"...no little fat guy dancing, lol, but a lot of the ladies still is summer dress...eat yer hearts out lol!. The hotel staff are setting up our hot tub for later, bubbly and snacks for a nice warm soak when we get back for oo-jin and me...Richard and Yun-hee are in a different hotel lol, and will need to get their own tub, ours is a navel free area, bathing suits banned. Followed by a nice warm bath before turning in, now you poor souls who never had a nice warm Asian bath with you lady, my heart goes out to you! LOL, I have had some new folks comment. when checking in to their rooms here.."Wow, that bath tub is big, you can get lost in that...", poor westerners lol! We always make sure they are on other floors than us, we can get a bit noisy at times lol!

          The world is happy Obama did not attend the parade, nobody like him in East Asia nor his pals the Japanese. Seems North Korea did not do well her either...http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/nort...12000315F.html

                        UPDATE 12 SEPTEMBER 2015, 1335 KST SATURDAY:

                        Nice day in Paju today, 68F. and partly sunny, seems like fall already. The wind is from the west off the sea and very pleasant.Taking a lunch break with "The Mice" plus Dutch Jr., Soo-jin made us some bulgogi and a salad washed down wit a Boris' Brewery pale ale to tide us over. We have been getting updates on the Russian troop movements into Syria, looks to be another good example of an 'air assault" . it is massive folks, with the Soviets...er...Russians building at least one new airbase and other bases. Seems they intend to stay and are moving their latest air defense missiles in to protect them. Obama and company better realize their talking and speech-a-fying have now effect here, and medieval methods will be needed soon, they could care less about Percy and company and phony "treaties".

                        Seems the "agreement" may be over very soon. If NK launches a missile or pops a nuke the loud speakers are to be turned back on and we are to become very aggressive again...nice...http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/nort...09700315F.html

                        Australia is talking here, and condemn NK's actions, hey why not send some troops, a novel idea. No foul talking bigots though, thank you very much, my hand took a bit longer to heal from the last one, must be getting old...http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/nati...06500315F.html , "bronzed warriors", indeed LOL! next time I may let Soo-jin correct the bloke, lol, another verse!

                        I think she can handle this bunch too, she's a killer taekwondo fighter...http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/nort...005900315.html I believe I save that Ozzies' life LOL!

                        A sad note, a soldier was killed and two others wounded in a grenade training accident when a K413 detonated. The K413 is pretty much a US M67...http://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com/...px?aid=3009082

                        just a reminder, fall is coming and the beaches will be bare and the Valkyries wearing furs..and you missed it all, sorry 'bout that! we told you to get over here, did you listen..noooo!

                          UPDATE 15 SEPTEMBER 2015, 2350 KST TUESDAY:

                          A short update, it is 65F. and clear tonight in Paju. We have been working late tonight and just got home. The invasion of Syria and other problems are keeping folks busy. It also appears"the agreement" is pretty much over with North Korea stating it will launch a new long range missile very soon, and threatening to use nuclear weapons on the USA and ROK. Tensions are moving very high, very fast on the peninsula. Hopefully they will let the Chuseok holiday go on without problems. we are already gearing up for the provocations just on the horizon and will meet them with VERY AGGRESSIVE actions.

                          SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Yonhap) -- North Korea threatened Tuesday to use nuclear weapons against the United States as it announced that it has restarted operation of its nuclear reactor at Yongbyon complex....http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/nort...06451315F.html

                          SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Yonhap) -- A rocket launch announced by North Korea is a "serious provocation," the Defense Ministry said Tuesday, adding that no signs of the planned launch have been seen so far. ...http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/nort...004900315.html

                          BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Yonhap) -- China called Tuesday for calm and restraint, a day after the North's space agency hinted that it could launch a long-range rocket to mark a key national anniversary...http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/nort...08500315F.html

                          Just as inter-Korean relations have begun to warm up again, North Korea is issuing threats
                          of further provocations...http://www.arirang.co.kr/News/News_View.asp?nseq=183339

                          if anyone thought any "agreement" with North Korea would last long enough for the ink to dry, they are smoking some heavy sh*t

                            I really don't know how the South Korean peninsula deals with this on a daily basis. It's like the neighbors having a rabid dog for a pet and letting it roam in their back yard. You know it's there, it's never got into your yard or bit anybody before, but............................................... ...

                              Hi Vince;

                              Unfortunately this mad dog comes across into our yard regularly and bites. We do the same in response though we triple the weight of the attack. You deal with it by trying your best to live a normal life when not engaged, just like Paju, it is much like a normal US town until the North makes a move then it is war. They call this a low Intensity War, and it is except when YOU are it's focal point, and Paju seems to be a favorite target for the North. We deal with it, but each day Soo-jin and I leave home she gives it a long look to remember just in case it's not there when we come back, she is a soldier but also a woman so she worries. We've been walking the nights but are hoping this upcoming weekend we can have our long weekend on Jeju-do for Chuseok in peace, if not we deal with it. The rest of the ROK deals pretty much the same, and it's been like this for so long all feel it's normal.

                                UPDATE 21 SEPTEMBER 2015, 1300 KST MONDAY;

                                It's about 75F. and foggy along the Imjin today, the fog is burning off though and we should be around 85F this afternoon. Tension is very high. President Park is giving all troops a two day special pass for Chuseok in recognition for the operations a few weeks ago. You can use it by itself or add it to leave already scheduled, so we added it to ours for week long vacation, so should be a good holiday for The Combined Dutch Family on Jeju-do.
