  • Decoy type of thing...

    I read in the FM 23-10 somewhere, not sure what part exactly, that you should use some sort of thing that would make somebody think your somewhere else instead of where you are. Some ideas would be great.

      Hi rm;

      Dummy hides and flash bulbs Really, that's one of the suggestions, does it work The idea is to build a dummy hide off to the side of the real hide, when you take the shot your spotter is to trigger a flash bulb concealed in the dummy hide This is suppossed to give the bad guys something to shoot at Have you tried to buy any dang flash bulbs lately eek! And I wonder how this flash bulb a few hundred meters from you real hide is suppossed to keep the arty off your butt eek! You're supposssed to site the dummy so that the acoustic signiture from the shot will appear to match the flash of the buld Sooooooo, nope, never used it

      Take care...Jim

        You will probably never have time to set up dummy hides or the ruck space to carry extra dummy hide gadgets. Nice in theory, but not in real life.

        PS, Do you really want a 400 yard piece of 550 cord (or other) tracing straight back to your location. You know, during those times that a patrol happens to accidentally find it? Might as well use yellow spray paint. eek!
